Berthold von Moosburg (Bishop)
Berthold von Moosburg († after 1106 ) was a counter-archbishop of the Archdiocese of Salzburg .
Life
Berthold was a son of Count Burkhard von Moosburg († after 1060); his maternal grandfather was Count Berthold II von Dießen († after 1060).
He was appointed for the first time in 1085 by Heinrich IV. As counter-archbishop of Salzburg, because Gebhard had agreed to the banishment of Heinrich at the Synod of Quedlinburg . Berthold devastated the property of Margrave Engelbert von Spanheim , who was Vogt of the Salzburg Archbishopric, and the Admont Abbey . Engelbert was able to take possession of the city of Salzburg, while Berthold had to retreat to the Hohensalzburg fortress . When in 1086 the Bavarians and Swabians rose against Emperor Heinrich under Duke Welf , Berthold had to flee and Archbishop Gebhard was able to return to Salzburg. After Gebhard's death in 1088, Berthold was able to take possession of Salzburg again until 1090. In that year Thiemo was elected Bishop of Salzburg and received the pallium from Pope Urban II. In 1097 Berthold won the battle near Saaldorf , Thiemo had to flee and Berthold was again archbishop. In 1106 he was expelled by Archbishop Konrad I by military force.
