The ancestor Theodor Heusler was the progenitor of the Hessian branch of a Basel citizen and council family attested since 1364. Fritz's father was Conrad Heusler (1827–1907), a secret mountain in Bonn and the owner of the Isabellenhütte Heusler in Dillenburg at the time . His mother Georgine Strauss (1843–1911), daughter of David Friedrich Strauss , professor of theology in Zurich (Switzerland) and the singer Agnes Schebest .

The 30-year-old Fritz married in Marburg / Lahn in 1896 Johanna (1868–1955), daughter of Otto von Heusinger (1830–1901), professor of forensic medicine and district doctor in Marburg and the raisin Hermann. At that time he was working as a private lecturer at the University of Marburg.

The couple had four children, two sons and two daughters. Son Otto (* 1901) became a chemist and technical director of Isabellenhütte, son Ernst (* 1907) became commercial director of Isabellenhütte.

In 1926 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .

job

Fritz discovered the Heusler alloys named after him , which are ferromagnetic , although the alloying elements contained therein do not have this property. In 1937 Heusler retired from active management of the company and handed the business over to his two sons Otto Heusler as technical director and Ernst Heusler as commercial director of Isabellenhütte. At the same time, Isabellenhütte GmbH was converted into a limited partnership under the name "Isabellenhütte Heusler KG". The articles of association stipulated that only descendants of Konrad Heusler could participate in the company with capital.
