The Berufsbildungswerk Leipzig for the hearing and speech impaired gGmbH is a vocational training center (BBW) for vocational preparation and initial training of hearing, language and communication impaired young people.

history

The BBW was founded in 1991, partners are Paulinenpflege Winnenden eV , the City of Leipzig and the Diakonisches Werk Innere Mission Leipzig eV

In the first years the BBW was located in the Leipzig district of Reudnitz . In 1994 construction work began on an approximately 11.5 hectare site in the Knauthain district . Boarding houses, training workshops, a garden center, a leisure center with a meditation room, a dining room, a sports hall with a grass and hard court and an administration building with a school and a diagnostic and advice center were newly built and inaugurated in October 1997.

In 2006 the BBW Leipzig carried out the certification audit for the quality management standard ISO 9001 for the first time and is now certified according to the quality management standard ISO 9001: 2015. It is a member of the Federal Association of Protestant Disability Aid .

education

The BBW trains over 500 apprentices with hearing or speech impairments or other disorders such as auditory processing and perception disorders (AVWS) (as of 2014). Most of the training takes place in the BBW's workshops. There are also two other forms:

  • Company- related training: The training contract is concluded with the BBW, the training takes place in a company in Leipzig.
  • Local training: The training contract is concluded with a company at home, the BBW accompanies the training.

About 30 apprenticeships are offered in eleven professional fields. The training period is three years (in exceptional cases two years or three and a half years).

The occupational fields are (as of 2016) agriculture , printing technology , nutrition , color technology and interior design , housekeeping , wood technology , logistics , metal technology , textile technology and clothing , business and administration and dental technology .

Accommodation and care

There are boarding houses on the grounds of the BBW. Here four young people are accommodated in one living area; there are single rooms for young people who are difficult to integrate into groups. The young people are cared for socio-pedagogically and by the employees in the diagnostic and counseling center psychologically and speech therapy.

Young people, especially those in their third year of training, live in apartments in the city to prepare for integration.

public relation

The grounds of the BBW are freely accessible. The outdoor facilities are available to the population and especially to the young people of the surrounding residential areas, for example for sporting activities.

The BBW holds open days annually or every two years , at which all interested parties, especially future apprentices and their relatives, are given an insight into the work. A meeting of alumni will take place during the open house.
