Professional competition for young gardeners

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The professional competition for young gardeners is a subject-related competition for gardeners at local, state, federal and European level . It is organized by the Association of European Horticultural Teachers and the respective national organizations in the world of work. In Germany (2002) these were the Arbeitsgemeinschaft deutscher Junggärtner (AdJ) e. V. and the Central Horticultural Association . The professional competition for young gardeners is held every two years in the interim year to the international professional world championship WorldSkills .

history

On November 18, 1995, Johannes Peperhove, former President of the Association of German-French Horticultural Teachers and President of the Association of European Horticultural Teachers from 2005 to 2016, initiated the European young gardener competition at a German-French meeting for young gardeners and the AG of German-French horticultural teachers.

The association EU-Horticulture-Teacher Asbl has been responsible for the organization and implementation since 2017. Peter Stadelmann has been President since 2017.

Past and future venues at European level:

aims

Participants in teams of three should be able to measure their own professional skills, creativity and resourcefulness together with like-minded people, far from any test pressure and competitive thinking. The cooperation between different specialist groups in the agricultural sector is to be strengthened.

Establishing contacts to facilitate entry into professional life is another goal.

Conditions of participation

All trainees in the gardener profession, students in the basic vocational training year, horticultural specialists and gardeners who have completed vocational training up to the age of 25 can take part in the professional competition. Horticultural workers can participate. Apprentices in the first and second year of training take part in competition level "A", trainees in the final year compete in level "B". Correspondingly more difficult tasks are set in level "B".

Levels of competition

Local level

The first round usually takes place in January and February at the vocational schools. Ten interdisciplinary tasks are processed at ten stations. The subject areas and instructions for the preparation of the content will be announced in advance. The participating teams for the national competitions will be determined within two to three weeks.

State level

The state decision takes place in May and June. Here, too, ten different tasks have to be solved in the two competition levels.

Federal level

The state winners of levels "A" and "B" compete against each other at the federal level. The venue in September is the respective Federal Garden Show , which also takes place every two years.

European level

The European champions between the teams will be determined between 17 participating nations (as of 2011). Two teams from each participating country take part.
