Beryllium telluride is an inorganic chemical compound of beryllium from the telluride group .
Extraction and presentation
Beryllium telluride can be obtained by reacting beryllium with tellurium at 1100 ° C in a stream of hydrogen .
properties
Beryllium telluride is a gray powder that decomposes relatively quickly to hydrogen telluride in moist air . This reaction takes place vigorously with water. Beryllium telluride crystallizes in the cubic zinc blende type with the space group F 4 3 m (space group no. 216) . It is a II-VI compound semiconductor with a band gap of 2.8 eV.
