Betrayal in Antara is a computer role-playing game from 1997 and the indirect successor to Betrayal at Krondor . It was developed and published by Sierra On-Line .

action

Unlike its predecessor, fantasy author Raymond E. Feist was no longer involved in the development, but worked together with Pyrotechnix and 7th Level on Return to Krondor . Therefore, the game is no longer located in the fantasy world Midkemia , but in the newly designed, thematically strongly related game world Ramar.

Aren saves the life of the young noble William and discovers his talent for magic. William promises to pay his debt to Aren by helping him consolidate and train his talent. After a short time, the two Kaylin save the life, whereupon the three team up and leave for Williams' hometown.

The plot is divided into nine chapters.

Gameplay

In Betrayal in Antara , the player controls a group of up to four heroes. The game is shown in a 3D first person perspective, the exploration of the game world happens in real time. For turn-based battles on hex maps , the view changes to an overview perspective .

In contrast to many other role-playing games, there is no possibility to create your own characters. Instead, the player has to fall back on four predefined characters:

  • William Escobar, warrior
  • Aren Cordelain, magician and
  • Kaylin Usher, huntress.
  • Raal, a grrrlf (resembles a werewolf).

As is customary in the role-playing game, the player receives rewards for mastered battles and tasks. The different abilities of the characters improve with regular use.

technology

Betrayal in Antara uses an improved version of the graphics engine from Betrayal in Krondor with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels.
