Fuel transporter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fuel transporter is the name given to supply ships of the German Navy that are set up for the transport and delivery of marine fuels . They are very similar to a tanker and have a civilian crew as an auxiliary ship .

Smaller fuel transporters, e.g. B. the Walchensee class , supplied the warships in the harbor, in a sheltered bay or in the roadstead . In addition, they were used for the transport of operating materials between depots and other supply facilities of the Navy. Class 763 with the ships Bodensee, Wittensee, Borkum and Eutin also belongs to the units of this group that have also been decommissioned .

The larger units, such as the Rhön class , are set up for sea supply and are often an integral part of a squadron . You can also carry kerosene for the helicopter on board. The Harz and Eifel (class 766), as well as Jeverland, Frankenland, Emsland and Münsterland (class 780) have been out of service for over 25 years.
