Bettina Hurrelmann

Bettina Hurrelmann (born May 23, 1943 in Reichenbach im Eulengebirge ; † July 19, 2015 in Cologne ) was a university professor for German studies and literary didactics at the University of Cologne .

After studying to become a teacher, she worked as a teacher for three years. Then she studied German, education and philosophy at the University of Münster. There she received her doctorate in 1974. In 1983 she qualified as a professor for literary studies / literary didactics at the University of Essen. Since 1984 she has been a professor at the University of Tilburg (Netherlands), since 1988 professor at the University of Cologne. Until summer 2008 she was head of the department for reading research and children's and youth media.

She was co-editor of the didactic magazine Praxis Deutsch .

honors and awards

Bettina Hurrelmann was awarded the Erhard Friedrich Prize for special achievements in German didactics in 2000.

On June 27, 2012, the Faculty of Culture and Humanities at the Heidelberg University of Education awarded her an honorary doctorate in philosophy ( Dr. phil. Hc ).
