Bettina Semmer

Bettina Semmer (born February 15, 1955 in Düsseldorf ) is a German visual artist .

Life

Bettina Semmer originally studied German and social sciences. From 1975 she studied art, first in Münster, then from 1976 at the HfBK Hamburg (class Polke / Walther / film class Neumann) with a guest semester at the Düsseldorf Art Academy (class Gerhard Richter ). 1992 MA in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths College , London. During the 1980s she belonged to the inner circle of artist friends of the “Hetzler Boys” - especially Martin Kippenberger and Albert Oehlen - and appeared in group exhibitions and collaborations with Rosemarie Trockel and Jutta Koether . Since 2009 she has been active through Artifariti in the Western Sahara with art projects, films and a human rights symposium for dOCUMENTA (13) . In 2010 she founded “Semmer-Berlin, Project Space and Gallery”. Bettina Semmer has a daughter and lives and works in Berlin .
