Beutow is a district of the Lower Saxony city of Lüchow (Wendland) in the Hanoverian Wendland.

history

The place name Beutow hints at the Wendish history of the region. The Wends settled the area as early as the 8th century after the Longobards had left the area. The village still has the typical Wendish round shape . Beutow is first mentioned in its present form on June 6, 1335. Count Heinrich von Schwerin enfeoffed the miners Busseke and Johan Wulf with a hoof in Boytef .

The Beutower mill was operated as a grain mill from the 14th century until 1977. Today a bakery is located on the site, which supplies part of the district and part of the surrounding new federal states. From around 1930 to 1975 there was a local volunteer fire brigade with a syringe house.

As part of the regional reform , Beutow was incorporated into Lüchow on July 1, 1972.
