The Hemelter Bach is a 33.9 km long orographically right tributary of the Ems in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . In the upper reaches the river is called Floethe and later Bevergerner Aa .

The Hemelter Bach rises as Floethe about 2 km west of Tecklenburg near Stallfort at an altitude of 99 m above sea level. NN . It flows primarily in a westerly direction. After crossing under the Dortmund-Ems Canal , the river changes its name for the first time and is called Flötte from here , from the border with Bevergern it is called Bevergerner Aa.
Before the brook reaches Bevergern , it passes Surenburg Castle . On the border with Rheine the river leaves the Tecklenburger Land , changes its name again and is henceforth Hemelter Bach . At Rheine in the Münsterland the river finally empties at 29 m above sea level. NN in the Ems .
