The Mitte district sports facility is a type B arena , which is home to the MTV Ingolstadt football club thanks to an indoor playing area .
The MTV Stadium, inaugurated in 1971, has a capacity of 8,000 seats, which are divided into seating and standing. The only seating option is the small main grandstand. The rest of the stadium area has standing room only. It should also be noted that there is no further standing curve compared to the guest curve. Similar to the former Rot-Weiss Essen stadium - the now demolished Georg Melches stadium - the stadium consists of just three grandstands. Up until the 2007/08 season , FC Ingolstadt 04 played its regional league home games here. For two seasons, 2008/09 (promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ) and 2009/10 ( 3rd division ), the club played its home games in the Tuja Stadium ; since 2010/11 in the newly built Audi Sportpark .
