Bhatura ( Hindi : भटूरा , bhaṭūrā ) is a deep-fried Indian flatbread that puffs up during deep-frying and takes on a balloon-like shape. The dough typically consists of wheat flour , wheat semolina , salt , sugar , yogurt and yeast , and must rest for a few hours before processing. Bhatura is often served as a side dish in Indian restaurants .

A variant is the kulcha , which is baked or boiled on a flat pan and can be garnished with coriander leaves. It is made from the same batter.

Other Indian flatbreads are chapati , naan , puri and the spicy papadam .
