Bianca Del Rio (born on 27. June 1975 as Roy Haylock ) is an American drag queen . She is an actress, comedian, costume designer and best known as the season six winner of RuPaul's Drag Race .

Life

Bianca Del Rio grew up as Roy Haylock in Gretna (Louisiana) . She has Cuban and Honduran roots and is the fourth of five children. As a teenager, she began acting and costume design for theatrical productions in her high school .

After school, she mainly worked as a costume designer and won her first Big Easy Entertainment Award in 1993 when she was 17 years old. In 1995 she began performing as a drag queen under the name Bianca Del Rio in New Orleans . After Hurricane Katrina , Del Rio moved to New York City , where she has lived since and regularly appears in clubs as a drag queen. She often works with Lady Bunny .

In 2016 her first own movie Hurricane Bianca was released , in which u. a. Contribute Rachel Dratch , Alan Cumming and RuPaul .

RuPaul's Drag Race

In December 2013, the US television station Logo , which airs the reality show , announced the 14 candidates for the sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, including Bianca Del Rio. She won three challenges in the course of the show and finally prevailed in the final against her fellow campaigners Adore Delano and Courtney Act. Bianca Del Rio is the first and so far the only winner of RuPaul's Drag Race of Hispanic origin.
