Bibiyergou (also: Bibiyargou ) is a rural community in the Tillabéri department in Niger .

geography

Bibiyergou is located in the Sahel region northwest of the regional capital Tillabéri . The neighboring communities are Anzourou and Dessa in the north, Sakoïra in the south and Sinder in the west. The municipality is divided into the administrative villages Bibiyargou (also Bibiyergou) and Innamaraz and the hamlets of Garo Koira (also Garokoira) and Arsilamey (also Arssilamey). The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Bibiyargou.

history

In 1899, the Bibiyergou area came under French military administration as part of the newly created Sinder district . In 1905 the place was attached to the new military territory of Niger. The rural community of Bibiyergou was established as an administrative unit in 2002 during a nationwide administrative reform. The canton Tillabéri / Sakoïra was dissolved and its territory was divided into the communities Bibiyergou, Sakoïra and Tillabéri. The original proposal of the Tuareg group Rhattafan living in this area was to make the administrative village Tondia of the rural community Dessa the capital of a separate Rhattafan community. However, this was rejected by the responsible ministerial commission. Tondia stayed with Dessa and the Rhattafan received Bibiyergou instead as a new rural community dominated by them.

population

At the 2001 census, Bibiyergou had 2,187 inhabitants. For 2010, 2895 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located on the northern edge of a zone in which rain-fed agriculture is practiced.
