Bibliotheca Islamica

The Bibliotheca Islamica (BI;النشرات الإسلامية / an-Našarāt al-Islāmiyya ) is a book series that has been published since 1929 , in which important source texts of the Arab cultural area are edited on the basis of a scientific edition in book form. The critical editions include Arabic, Persian and Turkish texts and range thematically from history and prosopography to literature and theology from various Islamic schools to Sufism .

history

Since 1992 the volumes of the BI have been edited by Muhammad al-Hujairi at the Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) . The publication of the series is a joint project of the Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft (DMG) and the OIB. Her publications are distributed in Europe by Klaus Schwarz Verlag and in the Near and Middle East by Muassasat al-Rayan .

So far, 53 volumes have been published (as of January 2016); many of them in several sub-volumes.
