The Bibowsee is a lake in the municipality of Bibow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania within the Sternberg lake landscape .

The lake was created in the Pomeranian season of the Vistula Ice Age between the sand of the main ice edge and the ground moraine of the maximum ice advance.

The eponymous place Bibow is located on the southern shore of the lake. On the north bank, the state road 31 leads from Ventschow to Warin . The Bibow districts of Hasenwinkel and Nisbill are located there. Between these places there is a swimming area that is suitable for fishing with a small jetty. The rehabilitation clinic with the Haus am Bibowsee nursing home is also located on the northern bank and the Hasenwinkel mansion is not far from the bank . The Bad Kleinen – Rostock railway runs south of the lake .

The nutrient-rich Flachsee has an extension of around 1750 meters in an east-west direction, a maximum width of 640 meters and an area of 79 hectares. The water surface is 20.1  m above sea level. NHN . The deepest part of the lake is in the western part and measures 8.3 meters. There are pronounced shallow water zones, especially on the northeastern bank. The lake is fed in from the north through a few ditches and streams, and it drains in the south near Bibow via a ditch into the Mühlenbach and into the Neuhofer See . The Bibowsee is managed by a fishing and processing company from Dabel . Fishing is possible.

The Bibowsee is surrounded by a belt of reeds, the bank is partly overgrown with forest. The reeds offer, among other things, the endangered bittern (Botaurus stellaris) retreat, which has stable populations here.
