It rises northeast of Badja (consisting of the districts Little Badja and Big Badja ) on the western edge of the Deua National Park on the Great Dividing Range . From there the Big Badja River flows southwest and flows into the Numeralla River at Numeralla .
The swampy headwaters of the river and its tributary Peppers Creek forms the Badja Swamps Nature Reserve , a state nature reserve below Big Badja Hill within the boundaries of Deua National Park.
