history
The brothers Dick and Jack DeWitt, sons of Dutch immigrants to the United States, invented sophisticated equipment for automatic feeding on their own poultry farms in 1938. With the new device, the feed was automatically transported to the animals on a chain. This was the first feeding system in the world.
In 1958 a sales agency for Germany was founded in Calveslage in the Oldenburger Münsterland. The company's headquarters were completely relocated from Holland (Michigan) to Calveslage in 1985 , where Big Dutchman's headquarters have been located ever since. Bernd Meerpohl has been CEO of Big Dutchman AG since 1992.
Products
In addition to feeding systems and stable equipment, the product range also includes software, air conditioning systems and solutions for exhaust air purification and waste recycling.
The company continues to offer services from setting up small farms to creating fully integrated farms .
