The Biga Çayı (also Çan Çayı or Kocabaş Çayı ) is a river to the Marmara Sea in the northwestern Turkish province of Çanakkale . In ancient times, the river was called Granikos (Latinized: Granicus ).
The Biga Çayı rises on the northern slope of the Kaz Dağı , also known as the Ida Mountains . Initially it flows north. He takes up Küçük Çayı from the left and then turns to the northeast. It flows through the cities of Çan and Biga . The D555 trunk road follows the course of the river between the two cities . South of Güleç , the Kocaçay flows into the river on the left. At the town of Çınarköprü , the Çınarcık Çayı meets the Biga Çayı from the right. Shortly thereafter, a smaller, approximately 6 km long estuary branches off to the right. Finally, the Biga Çayı reaches the Marmara Sea south of Karabiga . The Biga Çayı has a length of about 80 km.
