Bill Bradley (musician)
Bill Bradley (* as William Ackerson Bradley on 15. February 1938 in New York City ; † 15. July 1989 ) was an American jazz - drummer .
Life
Bill Bradley is the son of swing trombonist and band leader Will Bradley and was therefore often referred to as "Junior" or "Will Jr". He started playing drums in 1952; his role models were Art Blakey and Philly Joe Jones . He played from 1954 in New York clubs such as Birdland and Basin Street with Johnny Smith , Bobby Scott , Tony Scott , Kai Winding , Steve Lacy and in 1956 in the George Wallington Quintet with Phil Woods and Donald Byrd . Around 1955/56 he worked on J. R. Monterose's album Jaywalkin ' and in 1955 on an album by Tony Fruscella ; In 1956 he was a member of Woody Herman's Big Band . On Epic Records he recorded his several albums House of Bradley ; No further recordings are available from later years.
