Bill Cain

Bill Cain (born February 8,  1948 ) is a retired American - French basketball player .

career

Originally from White Plains , New York , Cain played in his home country from 1978 to 1980 at Iowa State University . In both playing years he was the best scorer and rebounder of the university team: in 1968/69 he averaged 21.8 points and 13.5 rebounds and in 1969/70 on 19.8 points and 15.2 rebounds per encounter. The Portland Trail Blazers secured the NBA - Draft process 1970 in the third round of selection of 42 out the rights to the 1.98-meter Cain. However, he did not succeed in making the NBA.

Cain first played for a year in Belgium , in 1972 he moved to Vichy in France . He stayed there until 1975. In his final year in Vichy, he scored 28.1 points per game, making it the highest average of his career in France. From 1975 to 1983, Cain played at Le Mans . In 1978, 1979 and 1982 he won the French championship with the team. He married a French woman and took citizenship of the country. Cain was appointed to the French national team, in 1979 he took part in the European Championship and scored 13.2 points per match as the team's second best scorer in the course of the tournament.

At the end of his career, Cain played in Mülhausen in 1984/85 . He stayed in France after his playing days.
