William Bernard "Bill" Cheesbourg (born June 12, 1927 in Tucson ; † November 6, 1995 there ) was an American racing driver .
Career
Cheesbourg began his career in midget cars after World War II . Cheesbourg drove in the USAC series from 1956 to 1962 as well as in 1964, 1965 and 1966. He competed 31 times, including six times at the Indianapolis 500 . Cheesbourg could not achieve a victory.
Cheesbourg, who was very popular with his colleagues for his helpfulness, returned to the short tracks after his time with the big US monoposto cars and also won some local stock car races at the end of his career.
Since the 500 miles from Indianapolis belonged to the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960 , Cheesbourg also took part in three world championship races. He couldn't get any points.
