Bill Gaither (blues musician)
William Arthur "Bill" Gaither (also Little Bill or Leroy's Buddy , * 21st April 1910 in Belmont , Kentucky ; † thirtieth October 1970 in Indianapolis ) was an American blues - guitarist and singer.
Bill Gaither played blues records between November 1935 and December 1941, mostly in Chicago . He was one of Leroy Carr's friends, from which his nickname "Leroy's Buddy" is derived. With him he played several records for Okeh Records in 1940 , such as "Life of Leroy Carr" or "Georgia Barrel House". He was accompanied by pianists Honey Hill and Josh Altheimer , among others . Gaither himself acted as an accompanist for Lee Brown , Frank Busby , Champion Jack Dupree , Bumble Bee Slim and Tampa Red .
