Bill Siegel

Bill Siegel (born December 24, 1962 in Orlando , Florida , † December 11, 2018 ) was an American film producer and director in the field of documentary films .

Career

Siegel's career in the film business began in 1992 as an actor in the film Who Have the Choice . In 1994 he switched sides and worked on the film staff for the documentary Hoop Dreams . He made his first appearance as a film producer in 2002, when he also made his directorial debut in The Weather Underground . For this work he and Sam Green received a nomination in the category " Best Documentary " at the 2004 Academy Awards . The award went to Errol Morris and Michael Williams for their contribution to The Fog of War . He then worked as a producer for the television series Independent Lens and the television film The Road to 9/11 . He received an Emmy and a nomination at the Black Reel Awards for the documentary The Trials of Muhammad Ali , which was released in 2013 and is about Muhammad Ali . Siegel passed away in December 2018.
