Billy Hadnott
William K. Billy Hadnott (* thirtieth November 1914 in Port Arthur , Texas ; † 1. December 1999 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American jazz - and blues - bassist .
Live and act
Billy Hadnott played with Harlan Leonard and His Rockets in 1940 , with Coleman Hawkins , Charlie Parker , Lester Young , Red Norvo, and Sonny Criss in the mid-1940s and 1950s ; he was also a member of the Illinois Jacquet , Ike Lloyd , Wardell Grays Los Angeles All-Stars, and Louis Jordan and his Tympani Five bands , and played on the early Jazz at the Philharmonic tours. With Julia Lee he had a hit in the R&B charts in 1947 with “Gotta Gimme Whatcha Out”, # 3) .
Hadnott had his own formation in the early 1950s, in which u. a. the pianist Ernie Freeman played. In April 1952 he recorded four tracks under his own name for Federal Records with Freeman, Sonny Criss , Oscar Moore , including the Limehouse Blues . Hadnott also worked with blues musicians such as Julia Lee , Gladys Bentley , Lowell Fulson and T-Bone Walker .
