Biopark eV is a cultivation association and a member of the Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft (BÖLW) based in Güstrow .

Mark

The association was founded in 1991 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania by 16 farms. Today the association consists of around 700 members in 15 federal states who cultivate 142,000 hectares of agricultural land . This makes Biopark the second largest ecological cultivation association in Germany in terms of area. The association is based in Güstrow .

The organic products are mainly marketed through producer groups and then to food retailers . In 1994 Biopark Markt GmbH was founded. This takes over the national distribution of organic products.

Biopark is a protected and registered trademark for labeling organic food . Biopark has been IFOAM- accredited since 2002 , which means that Biopark certification meets the international certification criteria for organic farming .

Club goals

The association has set itself the goal of improving the conditions for keeping livestock , protecting the landscape by avoiding synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, and avoiding genetic engineering in agriculture (according to Biopark, the first GM-free region in Germany was founded on its own initiative) To strengthen economic and social development in “structurally weak” regions by creating jobs and to introduce transparency (for example, the ear tag number of a cattle provides information about its origin).
