Birgit Engell
Birgit Engell (born September 18, 1882 in Berlin , † July 28, 1973 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) was a Danish opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
She was a student of Giuseppe or Alfredo Cairati ( Zurich ) and Elka Gerster . She made her debut in 1909. An engagement in Wiesbaden followed. Between 1911 and 1926 she was married to the German singer Hans Erwin Hey (son of Julius Hey ). Are occupied u. a. Appearances with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Wilhelm Furtwängler and appearances in Carnegie Hall in New York . In 1937 she was awarded the Tagea Brandts Rejselegat as a deserved personality .
