Birgit Reinemund (born June 6, 1959 in Mannheim ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

The veterinarian with a doctorate worked in her own small animal practice in Mannheim- Feudenheim until 1998 . From 1998–2009 she was the managing partner of a Mannheim-based company that operates in the field of software and hardware development and trading in electronics / measurement technology / export of industrial goods, 2009–2013 member of the German Bundestag, management consultancy and qualified supervisory board member since 2014 Member of the administrative board of the Reinhold Maier Foundation and FDP candidate for the 2017 Bundestag for the Mannheim constituency.

Birgit Reinemund lives in Mannheim- Feudenheim .

Political work

In the local elections in 2009, she was elected to the municipal council of Mannheim for the first time and belongs to the FDP parliamentary group.

She is a member of the municipal committees “Economy, Labor, Social Affairs” and “Sport and Leisure” and is a member of the association assembly and the planning committee of the Rhine-Neckar Region Association . She was also a member of the supervisory boards of the municipal “Großmarkt Mannheim GmbH” until 2014 "And the" Meat Supply Center Mannheim GmbH ". She was re-elected with the best voting result in the 2014 local elections. She is now a member of the following committees: "Main Committee", "Economy, Labor, Social Affairs", "Culture" and "Sport and Leisure" and is a member of the supervisory board of GBG Mannheimer Housing Association.

As the first FDP member of the Bundestag for Mannheim since 1998, she was a member of the following bodies from 2009 to 2013: Chairwoman of the Finance Committee of the German Bundestag, Deputy Member of the Economic Committee, Deputy Member of the Sports Committee, Chairwoman of the Local Policy Group of the FDP parliamentary group. As of November 30, 2010, Reinemund was the local political spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group. In July 2011 she was elected chairman of the finance committee of the German Bundestag, succeeding Volker Wissing (FDP).

She is a member of the Liberal Women Kurpfalz , between May 2010 and June 2012 she was the Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the Liberal Women . She is also a member of the Liberal Initiative Mittelstand Baden-Württemberg and the Association of Liberal Local Politicians Baden Württemberg .

Political career

She has been active in the FDP Mannheim since 2002, on the district executive since 2004, and as district chairwoman from March 2006 to 2012. At the same time, she was a member of the FDP district board in Kurpfalz and, since 2006, a member of the FDP state board of Baden-Württemberg. 2011–2013 she is a member of the federal board of the FDP, 2014–2016 district chairman of the FDP Kurpfalz.

In 2004 she ran for the FDP on the local election list of the FDP in Mannheim on position 7. In the federal election in 2005 , she stood in the Mannheim constituency as a candidate for the FDP and received 9.95% of the second vote. In the local elections on June 7th, 2009 she was elected to the Mannheim City Council for the FDP and was re-elected in 2014 with the best voting result for the FDP.

In the Bundestag election on September 27, 2009 , it received 8.9% of the first votes and entered the 17th German Bundestag via the Baden-Württemberg state list.

In the federal election on October 22, 2013 , the FDP failed to pass the  5% hurdle . With that she also resigned as a member of the German Bundestag.

She ran for the FDP as a candidate for election to the district administrator in the Bergstrasse district on March 22, 2015 and achieved 7.6%.

On July 5, 2016, Reinemund was nominated again with a large majority as a candidate for Mannheim for the 2017 federal election, but resigned both from her candidacy and from the chairmanship of the FDP district association Kurpfalz.

Birgit Reinemund is a member of the state board of the VLK Association of Liberal Local Politicians VLK , member of the state board of LIM Liberal Mittelstand, member of the European Union and the Feuerio Große Carnevalsgesellschaft 1848 Mannheim.
