Birgit Schmidt (athlete)
Birgit Schmidt ( Birgit-Maria Schmidt ; born September 12, 1963 ) is a former German medium and long-distance runner .
At the German Championships over 1500 meters she was second in 1985 and third in 1983 and 1986. At the German Indoor Championships she was third three times over the same distance (1984, 1985, 1990). She also came third in the 1984 German Championship over 3000 meters .
At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1985 in Piraeus, she was fourth over 3000 meters.
Birgit Schmidt started for the Sport-Union Annen until 1983 , then for the LC Paderborn.
