Birk Irving (born July 26, 1999 in Denver ) is an American freestyle skier . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Irving has been on the AFP World Tour since 2010 . In the 2013/14 season, he achieved his first podium finishes in the halfpipe at the US Revolution Tour in Seven Springs and in Mammoth with third place. At the 2014 Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco , he was sixth in the halfpipe. In the 2014/15 season he won the US Revolution Tour in Seven Springs in the halfpipe and in slopestyle and in Mammoth twice in the halfpipe. He made his World Cup debut in December 2014 in Copper Mountain , which he finished in 28th place in the halfpipe. At the Junior World Championships 2015 in Chiesa in Valmalenco, he won the bronze medal in the halfpipe.

The following year Irving won the gold medal in the halfpipe at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer and finished 19th in the halfpipe at the X-Games Oslo 2016 . In the 2016/17 season, he finished fourth in the 2017 Winter X Games in Aspen and fifth in the halfpipe at the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada . He also won the Aspen Snowmass Open in the halfpipe in February 2017. In the 2017/18 season, with five top ten placements, he came 29th in the overall World Cup and fifth in the Halfpipe World Cup. He also won the halfpipe and slopestyle competitions and the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open at the Nor-Am Cup in Calgary . In March 2018, he finished second in slopestyle on the US Revolution Tour in Park City . In the following year he won his first World Cup victory in Mammoth and took 13th place at the World Championships in Park City and fifth place at the Winter X Games . In the 2019/20 season he came in three fourth places, third place in Calgary and in Cardrona with his second World Cup victory, seventh place in the overall World Cup and third place in the Halfpipe World Cup. As in the previous year, he finished fifth at the Winter X Games 2020 .
