Biskin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Biskin has been a registered trademark since 1958 and is part of the brand portfolio of the Elmshorn-based food company Peter Kölln GmbH & Co. KGaA. The Biskin range includes highly heatable vegetable fats and oils .

history

Biskin was registered as a trademark by the Dutch-British company Unilever in 1958 . In 1959 the Biskin brand was managed by the German Unilever subsidiary Margarine-Union GmbH , alongside Rama , Sanella , Blauband and Palmin . In 1964, Biskin and Palmin were among the leading edible fats in Germany. The Biskin advertising slogan "Closes the pore and holds back the juice" spread the false impression in the media and among the population that the meat pores would close when seared. In September 2004, the family business Peter Kölln acquired the trademark rights for Biskin, Livio , Palmin and Becht’s from Unilever . The sales to Peter Kölln were made as part of a reduction in regional and local brands by Unilever. The products offered under these brands are not manufactured by Peter Kölln himself, but are sold as commercial goods .

Products

The product portfolio consists of the vegetable oils Biskin Extra Hot , Biskin Gold and Biskin Special , the vegetable fats Biskin Pure vegetable fat and Biskin Special and the Biskin Special vegetable cream .

Awareness of the brand

An exhibition catalog in 2004 named Biskin one of those “brands that everyone knows”.

Biskin is known through television commercials, e.g. B. with the star chef Martin Bräuer , and known advertisements.
