The nature reserve Bergeler Wald is located in the area of ​​the city of Oelde in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 106 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1956 , extends southeast of the core town of Oelde directly on the A 2 that passes on the northern edge . The state road L 792 runs through the area and the Bergeler Bach flows.

The protection is placed for the preservation, promotion, development and restoration of communities and habitats typical of the landscape, rare and sometimes highly endangered animal and plant species within a large, contiguous, nationally significant forest complex with well-developed orchid-rich chalk beech forests , English oak hornbeam forests and small-area creek accompanying alder - Ash forests , in their typical local range of variation, including their pre-forests, shrubbery and herbaceous meadows as well as their forest edges.
