Setup date 1986

The Alte Beverwiese nature reserve is located in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 7.0 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1986 , extends west of Westbevern , a district of the city of Telgte . The state road L 588 runs north, the Bever flows to the east, and the Ems flows to the west and south . An unnamed tributary of the Bever flows through the area.

The protection takes place

  • to maintain a flat, natural hollow or brook kerbtal in the vicinity of the Bever
  • for the maintenance and development of species-rich wet and wet grassland with marsh marigold meadows and reeds
  • for the conservation, development and promotion of communities or habitats of rare and endangered wild plant and animal species
  • as a habitat for amphibians , reptiles , dragonflies and aquatic insects
  • for scientific, natural history, geographical and geological reasons
  • because of the rarity, special character, diversity, beauty and irreplaceability of the area
