The Märzenbecherwald nature reserve is one of the smallest nature reserves in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It bears its name after the spring knot flowers that are often found there , which are also called Märzenbecher .

The approximately 1.6 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1995 , extends east of Sünninghausen , a district of Oelde . The Forthbach flows not far south of the area.

The protection takes place

  • to maintain a conical fracture forest and wet grassland with lime flat moors and the outlets of sources and residents on this site animal and plant communities , of which plant species are particularly vulnerable
  • for scientific and cultural reasons
  • because of the rarity, peculiarity and the outstanding beauty of the area
  • for the restoration, development, maintenance and promotion of the quarry forest, the damp grassland with the bogs and springs and their communities
