The Vellerner Brook nature reserve is located in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 111 ha area, which was placed under nature protection in 1995 , extends in three parts north of Vellern , a district of Beckum . The state road L 882 runs to the west and south and the A 2 to the south . To the south-west lies the 14-hectare nature reserve Steinbruch Vellern .

The protection is placed for the preservation and development of large-area, coherent, near-natural, mostly herb and geophyte-rich woodruff - beech forests on sites rich in bases with their typical fauna in their various stages of development / age phases and in their typical local range of variation, including their pre-forests, bushes and perennials as well their forest edges.

From the flora worthy of protection the purple orchis should be mentioned, from the fauna worthy of protection it is the red kite and the honey buzzard .
