The Oestricher Forest is a nature reserve located in Ahlen in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The 10 hectare area is also used as a practice area for the Westfalen barracks .

The wet meadows have been designated as a nature reserve WAF-037 since 1993.

Flora and fauna

In the central part of the area, the Oestrich forest has higher proportions of acidic oak and beech forests . Isolated standing dead wood offers breeding opportunities, especially for black woodpeckers . Individual streams within the forest area have strongly meandering streams.
