The nature reserve Emsaue and Mussenbachaue lies in the area of ​​the municipality of Everswinkel and the cities of Telgte and Warendorf in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 102.25 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1991 , extends west of the core town of Warendorf along a section of the Ems and along the Mussenbach . The B 64 runs along the northern edge of the area, and the L 793 state road crosses the area in the southern area.

The protection is placed to preserve and restore a continuous, largely natural floodplain landscape as the main axis of a biotope network of national importance.
