The Beelener Mark nature reserve is located in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 148.0 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1985 , extends in four parts southeast of the core town of Beelen . The B 64 runs northeast .

The protection takes place

  • for the preservation, promotion and restoration of communities or habitats, in particular of rare, partly endangered waders and meadow birds and of rare, partly endangered plant communities of open water and moist grassland
  • to protect the open, contiguous grassland area
  • to maintain a traditional breeding bird area
  • because of the rarity, peculiarity and beauty of the area
