The Lippeaue nature reserve between Oberwerries and Dolberg Castle is in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 31 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1993 , extends southwest of Dolberg , the southernmost district of Ahlen , along the south-flowing Lippe . State road L 507 runs along the northern edge of the area .

The protection takes place

for the preservation and restoration of a river floodplain area that characterizes the landscape and is important as a habitat for endangered plant species and communities such as pond rose societies , reed beds , slim sedge , as well as for waders and cave breeders , water birds, amphibians , bats , beetles and dragonflies
