history
The tower was built in 1915 in honor of the 100th birthday of the former Chancellor Otto von Bismarck . The manor owner Hugo Leßmann placed the order for the building; The construction was carried out by a master builder from Groß Lafferde .
The Bismarck Tower, built in neo-Romanesque style, has a round floor plan and is made of sandstone. The tower is 11.2 m high and is located on the Lahberg (110 m above sea level ), the highest natural elevation in the Peine district.
After the Second World War , the tower was not accessible; In 1989 it was declared a monument . After the renovation of the tower, it has been accessible again since 1995.

In 1952, for the 800th anniversary of its existence, the village of Oberg received a coat of arms on which the Bismarck Tower is depicted, together with the coat of arms of the Lords of Oberg .

The noble family provided the lords of the castle at Oebisfelde (Aller) from at least the 13th to the 15th century . They served the bishops of Magdeburg and the dukes of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel in this border area. In 1448 Günter von Oberg died as the last lord of the castle in the Oebisfelde line. Their graves are unknown.
