The Diocese of Bikoro ( Latin : Dioecesis Bikoroensis ) was a Roman Catholic diocese located in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo , with its seat in Bikoro .

history

The Diocese of Bikoro was founded on January 3, 1931 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Cum opera from cessions of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Léopoldville and the Apostolic Prefecture Coquilhatville as a Mission sui juris Bikoro . On June 25, 1940 the Mission sui juris Bikoro was launched by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Si Evangelii to Apostolic Prefecture applicable.

The Apostolic Prefecture of Bikoro was founded on June 28, 1957 by Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Cum noverimus raised to the Apostolic Vicariate . On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Bikoro was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mbandaka as a suffragan .

The Diocese of Bikoro was annexed to the Archdiocese of Mbandaka on April 12, 1975 by the Holy Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples with the decree Cum ad bonum .
