The Bistum Kano ( lat. : Dioecesis Kanensis ) is in Nigeria preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Kano .

history

Pope John Paul II founded the Mission sui juris Kano on March 22, 1991 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Kaduna .

On December 15, 1995, it was raised to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate and on June 22, 1999 to the rank of diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kaduna as a suffragan diocese.
