The Erzbistum Kaduna ( lat. : Archidioecesis Kadunaënsis ) is in Nigeria preferred Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Kaduna .

history

The Archdiocese of Kaduna was established on August 24, 1911 by Pope Pius X from cession of the Apostolic Prefecture of Upper Niger as the Apostolic Prefecture of East Nigeria . On July 18, 1929, the Apostolic Prefecture of Eastern Nigeria was founded by Pope Pius XI. renamed with the Apostolic Constitution A Nobis in Apostolic Prefecture Northern Nigeria . On April 9, 1934, the Apostolic Prefecture of Northern Nigeria gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Jos . The Apostolic Prefecture of Northern Nigeria was founded on April 9, 1934 by Pius XI. Renamed with the Apostolic Constitution Praedecessorum Nostrorum in Apostolic Prefecture Kaduna . On April 28, 1942, the Kaduna Apostolic Prefecture gave up parts of its territory to establish the Niamey Apostolic Prefecture . Another assignment took place on June 29, 1953 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Sokoto .

The Apostolic Prefecture of Kaduna was founded on June 29, 1953 by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Magno Gaudio raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Lagos as a suffragan . On February 21, 1955, the diocese of Kaduna gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Kabba .

The diocese of Kaduna was on June 16, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. elevated to an archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Qui arcano Dei . The Archdiocese of Kaduna gave up on November 9, 1964 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Minna . Further assignments of territory took place on March 22, 1991 to found the Mission sui juris Kano , on July 10, 1995 to found the Kafanchan diocese and on December 5, 2000 to found the Zaria diocese .
