The diocese of Kontagora ( Latin : Dioecesis Kontagorana ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Kontagora in Nigeria .

history

Pope John Paul II founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Kontagora on December 15, 1995 from ceding territories from the dioceses of Ilorin , Minna and Sokoto . On May 21, 2002 she was elevated to the position of Vicariate Apostolic. Pope Francis elevated the vicariate to the rank of diocese on April 2, 2020 and made it subordinate to the Archdiocese of Kaduna as a suffragan .
