The diocese of Kothamangalam ( Latin Dioecesis Kothamangalamensis , Malayalam കോതമംഗലം രൂപത Kēātamaṅgalaṁ Rūpata ) is a diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church with its seat in Kothamangalam in India, united with the Roman Catholic Church .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Qui in Beati Petri on July 29, 1956 from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam , to which it was subordinated as a suffragan diocese.

On January 15, 2003, it lost part of its territory to the Idukki Eparchy .
