The Diocese of Shangqiu ( Latin : Dioecesis Coeitevensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Shangqiu in the People's Republic of China .

history

Pope Pius XI founded the apostolic prefecture Kweiteh with the Breve Quae catholico on June 19, 1928 from cessions of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Kaifeng . On May 18, 1937, she was raised to the rank of Vicariate Apostolic .

With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946. In 1991 the secret bishop Monsignor Nicolas Shi Jingxian was consecrated, who agreed in 1999 to join the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association .
