The diocese of Palghat ( Latin Dioecesis Palghatensis ) is a diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church, united with the Roman Catholic Church, with its seat in Palghat in India .

history

Pope Paul VI It was erected with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolico requirente on June 27, 1974 from cession of territory to the Eparchy Trichur ; it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly as a suffragan diocese.

On May 18, 1995 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archeparchy of Trichur. It lost part of the territory on January 15, 2010 to the Ramanathapuram eparchy .
