Peter Kochupuruckal

Peter Kochupuruckal (born March 3, 1964 in Marangoly , Kerala , India ) is an Indian clergyman and appointed Syro-Malabar auxiliary bishop in Palghat .

Life

Peter Kochupuruckal entered the seminary in Palghat in 1981 , where he studied philosophy and Catholic theology . He received on 29 December 1990, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Afterwards Kochupuruckal worked for ten years as a pastor in various parishes . In 1995 he obtained a Masters degree in Canon Law from St. Peter's Pontifical Institute in Bangalore . From 1997 to 2000 Peter Kochupuruckal worked as a marriage defender and church attorney before he was sent to Rome to continue his studies . Kochupuruckal graduated from the Pontifical Oriental Institute with a degree in canon law and received a doctorate in this discipline . After returning to his homeland in 2007 he became an official and pastor of the parish of St. Antony in Walayar . From 2010 to 2013 Peter Kochupuruckal was Regens of the Small Seminar . Kochupuruckal became diocesan chancellor in 2013. Since 2016 he has also been synkellos for seminarians and religious .

The Synod of the Bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church elected him auxiliary bishop in Palghat. Pope Francis confirmed this election on January 15, 2020 and appointed him titular bishop of Lares .
