Jacob Manathodath (born February 22, 1947 in Kodamthuruth , India ) is an Indian clergyman and Syro-Malabar bishop of Palghat .

Life

Jacob Manathodath received on 4 November 1972, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Syro-Malabar Catholic Major Archeparchy of Ernakulam -Angamaly .

On Sept. 6, 1992 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Abydos and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Ernakulam. The Syro-Malabar Grand Archbishop of Ernakulam, Antony Cardinal Padiyara , donated him episcopal ordination on November 28 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Changanacherry , Joseph Powathil , and the Bishop of Thamarasserry , Sebastian Mankuzhikary. On November 11, 1996, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Palghat. The inauguration took place on February 1, 1997.

On June 22, 2018, Pope Francis also appointed him Apostolic Administrator sede plena of the Ernakulam-Angamaly Grand Archbishopric, which suspended the jurisdiction of Grand Archbishop George Cardinal Alencherry , who had been criticized for real estate transactions .
